Thanks to Rushmore Superfoods I received samples of their product to try for the purposes of this review.
RE calls their formulations vitality drinks instead of energy drinks which have become almost ubiquitous. Why the difference? Vitality is the state of being strong and active. This indicates a more permanent and lasting state of well being and stamina. Energy drinks are known for giving a quick boost that wears off after a short period. What Rushmore Essentials wants it’s customers to understand is that regular consumption of their Vitality drinks will lead to a longer lasting sense of well being.
Have you heard of antioxidants? If you’ve been in public, gone to a grocery store, read a paper, watched TV or been on the Internet you are sure to have heard about them and their benefits. Antioxidants are found naturally in fruits and vegetables and have been found to be excellent cancer fighters. Fact of the matter is that people rarely eat enough of the needed fruits and veggies to get the antioxidants they need for well-being. RE drinks use a combination of fruit juices and purees from some of the most antioxidant rich fruits known to man. The RE Vitalize contains juice from 21 superfruits from all over the world. This helps provide a source of antioxidants that wouldn’t normally be available in your every day diet.
The RE Vive shots are 2.5 ounces of juice with green tea and B vitamins mixed to give you a boost of energy and add to your natural verve. This I would take about mid-afternoon with a snack. Personally, I would not take this on an empty stomach. The B vitamins without a bit of a buffer made me slightly nauseous. Taken with a protein rich snack it allowed the nutrients to absorb a little more slowly.
An interesting fact about the RE Vive vitality drink shot is that it has an ORAC score of 7500 and one 2 ounce serving of the RE Vitalize drink has an ORAC of 4000. ORAC is oxygen radical absorbency capacity – basically how effective the antioxidants in a food are at fighting free radicals. You can check the ORAC of hundreds of foods in the ORAC Values database sorted either by score or alphabetically. It is recommended that we consume between 3,500 and 5,000 ORAC per day in our diet. One shot of the RE Vive or one serving of RE Vitalize and you’ve exceeded your daily need. Don’t forget to still eat your fruits and veggies – we do still need fiber you know :).
When I received my box of Rushmore Essentials, or RE, beverages I was very sick with the flu. I had no appetite and everything was turning my stomach. They couldn’t have come at a better time. Though the first few times I attempted to drink the RE Vitalize it didn’t set well, I knew the antioxidants and B vitamins in the drink would be essential to my complete recovery and restoration of my normal energy level. I had to wait a couple weeks before I was able to drink the vitality beverage daily and add it to my smoothies.
It tastes pretty decent. The Re Vitalize mix of juices kind of has a taste similar to prune juice but the texture, mouth-feel and aftertaste are completely different. It adds a really tasty zing to my daily breakfast smoothies. In the Re Vive Shots you could really taste the B Vitamins more strongly, but at least you know they are there with 100% fruit juices, green tea and not artificial sweeteners.
If you’d like to give these a try you can find the 2.5 oz Re Vive vitality shot and the 32 oz Re Vitalize at Costco, The Vitamin Shoppe and Amazon.com. Search the RE website for other locations in your area. Go here to get a $1 off coupon.

I can’t find a good drink that doesn’t give me jitters and it doesn’t taste good!
This one did taste good. As for the jitters all I can suggest is a small snack like a handful of nuts.
Nice love the review, was curious about these energy drinks. I have wanted to try both.
You may have more opportunities to find them. I checked if my local Costco had them to no avail, but they were carried at the Vitamin Shoppe nearby.
I can’t do energy drinks but I will share this with a friend who loves them.
The RE Vitality is more of a nutritional supplement. It didn’t have any of the added caffeine from Green Tea like the RE Vive.
My husband loves energy drinks, but I think so many of them are too sweet. This one sounds really good – we’ll have to give it a try.
I’ve never heard of these but love that they are full of vitamins.
I like the vitamin richness, but the ORAC value was what really caught my attention.
I never heard of this brand, but it sounds wonderful!
I don’t really care for energy drinks as I don’t like the way they make me feel.
What I learned was even with this one based on juices it is best to drink it with a small snack to buffer the B vitamins from being absorbed too quickly. That kept the nausea at bay and didn’t give me the jitters.
Regarding the texture and aftertaste, that’s a good different right? I definitely need to add some kind of supplements to my diet so this might just be the perfect option!
Absolutely it was a good different. Guess I should have specified, lol!
I’ve never heard of this product but we’ve had other drinks full of antioxidants and like those.
I’d love to try those, I’ll have to pick some up!
My husband drinks a lot of energy drinks, but I don’t think I have ever seen him drinking this brand. I will tell him about it.
Hubs and I have tried others and not liked them. The taste was bad, they gave us a stomach ache and gave us the jitters. Part of the problem was taking it without a small snack, but I didn’t like the totally artificial quality of them. RE doesn’t have any artificial sweeteners and relies on the fruit juices and purees for nutrients and sweetness.
My Hubs has been trying a lot of different energy drinks to see which ones he likes and works the best. He hasn’t tried this brand.
I will have to give these a try, I usually only use energy drinks after a long race event because I have nothing left as far as energy after a really long run.
I have never heard of this drink before. Definitely something to check out!
If you come back tomorrow you will find a giveaway for the drink! Hope you can enter :).
I drink lots of lemon infused water and juice vegetables instead of drinking pre-packaged juices. Sounds like a great product
I just watched an episode of Dr. Oz that advocated doing that. There was actually a diet plan that went with it. Those always make me nervous, but I guess you have to break some habits to make new ones, right?
I haven’t heard of this brand until now. My parents drink a lot of energy drinks, so I will have to let them know about these verses regular energy drinks.
Hmmm. I’m not a big fan of the taste of prune juice. does the flavor change depending on what you mix it with?
I hope that they have samples at Costco when I go tomorrow. I would be interested in trying it.
Energy drinks give me the jitters, but I have some friends who would be happy to try these out. I will pass along the info.
I have seen these in the store, but never knew really what they were. Now I want to go get one and try it out! I love that they use 21 superfruits!
I am always up for trying womthing to help get energy back. This one sounds good.
I will have to tell my daughter in college about these, she likes energy drinks for late night studying
Unfortunately I can’t do energy drinks but will pass this on to those who can.
I love B Vitamins – this sounds like something I really want to try. I need something other than coffee to give me that energy at the end of the day.
Seems like a good one – so far all I have seen are things that doesn’t taste any good – I have to try this.
Sounds like a product I must look into ! Thanks for sharing it
Vitamin B gives me issues too. I am always willing to try something once, especially if it has great health benefits.
That’s a good tip to drink it with a protein-rich snack. Thanks for sharing the info.!
Awesome review! I have been looking for a good energy drink to try!
These sound pretty good! I could use more energy. Right now, I’m getting it from coffee!
Thanks for explaining the difference between vitality and energy drinks. I think of energy drinks as a huge jolt of caffeine, and while I need some caffeine, I tend to shy away from anything energy-drink, so the difference was important. I love that it is loaded with B vitamins.
At first I took for granted that it was called a vitality drink but the more I used them and read about them I realized there had to be a reason for it. When I did some research I felt I had to share what I’d learned.
I think these sound great! Just what I need.I hope to try these because I need some added vitality to my day
I had never heard of this drink before. I think my husband would really like it.
Very interesting. I don’t drink energy drinks because they are really just caffeine. But knowing that this is full of super fruits is very appealing.
This is a really interesting product. I normally don’t drink any kind of energy drink, but with the added benefits this brand offers, I am intrigued and more inclined to pick up a bottle should I see them in our stores here.
That’s a great tip you had to mix it with a protein rich snack. Drinks like this usually make me so jittery but maybe if I had a snack with them they wouldn’t.
Love the idea that these are so full of Vitamins and Antioxidants, and not just sugar and caffeine. I also like that it’s made with actual fruit juices and not artificial flavorings. Just knowing this much about it would make me want to try it. You said, “The Re Vitalize mix of juices kind of has a taste similar to prune juice…”, but that’s just fine with me, because I like Prune Juice!
I like the fact that you can take these with you on-the-go and that they provide you with necessary minerals.
This sounds like something I could use before going to the gym. I may have to pick some up for myself.
I need to look for these. I have been eating so horribly that this would probably help balance so of the crud.
I’m curious to try this these energy drinks are very rich hope to have the opportunity to try them! whenever I need energy.
Looks like a neat drink. I look forward to checking it out more.
I like this as an alternative to other energy drinks which can be hard on the adrenals.
I don’t do energy drinks. I’m not entirely sure if all their ingredients are safe and have heard stories about a few of them so I stay away. These may be great but I’ll have to pass.
This sounds like a great drink. I am not a fan of energy drinks but I would give this a try.
I am in desperate need for a drink like this! I work at a school and am always on the go. Being tired is not an option!
What matters to me when it comes to juices is that it don’t have after taste
Nice review. I’ve never tried any of these drinks but I’ve been thinking about trying one. I’ll give it a shot.
I recently had the opportunity to try this energy drink, and found it tasty and truly gave me more energy. This is in my to buy list!
I’ve been trying to stay away from energy drinks and drink more water instead, but it’s nice to know there are healthy alternatives if I need a pick-me-up. 😀
